At least eight people were injured when a down-valley bound RFTA rolled over on Highway 82 between Blue Lake and Catherine Store, coming to rest sideways on a concrete barrier pointing up-valley. The Colorado State Patrol is reporting no fatalities, with six people transported to Valley View Hospital in moderate condition and two listed in serious condition. At midnight, all patients were reported to be in stable condition. Emergency personnel from both Pitkin and Garfield County were on the scene, and two large cranes were deployed to clear up the wreck. As of midnight Sunday, Highway 82 is closed to westbound traffic, with the frontage road being used as a detour. CDoT has not released an estimate of when the road might be clear, but it seems unlikely to impact the morning commute. Photos by Will Grandbois.
