Fire restrictions end Sept. 7

Carbondale, Garfield County, White River National Forest and the Colorado River Valley Bureau of Land Management office are all rescinding fire restrictions effective Sept. 7.

Some of the bans have been in place since June, with stage two restrictions for much of the duration. Thanks to wetter weather, folks will now be allowed to have campfires, smoke outside, weld and operate small internal combustion engines.

However, fire managers have asked everyone to continue to exercise caution, use safe sites, never leave a fire unattended and make sure it’s fully extinguished.

Water restrictions in Carbondale and elsewhere also remain in place, and may remain through the end of the irrigation season.
